The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge is an ongoing construction project which consists of a series of bridges and tunnels crossing the Lingdingyang channel that will connect Hong Kong, Macau and Zhuhai, three major cities on the Pearl River Delta in China. The proposed 50 km link is expected to cost US$10.6 billion (HK$83 billion). With its length, it would become one of the landmarks within the area. HZMB the main construction works on December 15, 2009 started construction, first phase planed by the end of 2017, about eight years to build.
HZMB is called as "seven wonders of the New World" by Guardian newspaper. It will become the world's longest cross-sea bridge; it is recognized as "the world's most challenging project"; it is the first offshore immersed tunnel China made ; it is the world's largest highway immersed tunnel and the world's only deep immersed tube tunnel at present.
